Maria del Carmen Guzmán de Herrera Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 21, 2015 to Jan. 7, 2016.
In honor of our loving mother, our beautiful matriarch, our backbone, who joined her beloved father and mother, Eudoxio and Cruz Guzmán, and all of The Lord's angels in heaven on December 13, 2015. Maria del Carmen Guzmán de Herrera, born July 14, 1941 in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México, peacefully departed from us to join our Heavenly Father. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, José Manuel Herrera, and her children Placido Bernal and wife Dolores, Juan Carlos Bernal, Fernando Bernal and wife Lilia, Elizabeth Bernal, Armida and husband Francisco Garcia, Antonia Isela Bernal, Maria del Carmen and husband Gilbert Gandara, Edgardo Bernal and wife Margarita, Ana Iris and husband Anthony Mojocoa, step son José Manuel Herrera and wife Elizabeth. Her wonderful yet tough love approach to our upbringing resulted with us as thriving, successful, and resilient adults. Carmen, as most knew her, was a vivid, lively, proud and honorable model of a woman. Vivid because of her authentic way of always being diverse; she never had one way of doing things. Her bright ideas always kept her and her family eventful. Lively because she had an unrelenting life of racing, dancing, and playing the slots. And proud because she had great perseverance; she never gave up and always did everything the best way she knew how. Not only was Carmen a remarkable mother to her children, she was a cherished motherly figure to others as well. She always showed her true inner beauty to the people in her lifetime. There is no doubt that Carmen left all of us with unforgettable and amazing memories. Her legacy will forever more continue through her children, 36 grandchildren and 49 (and counting) great-grandchildren. Our family will continue to live strongly every day in memory of the strong individuals she always taught us to be. Our family believes in The Lord's great plan; we have faith that Our Lord will forever protect her in His paradise. May we all continue to live through her phenomenal example. No services will be held.

I didn't have the privilege of knowing her very well.. What I do know is that she raised a wonderful family with a strong faith.. She was an influence on her grandchildren... I got to reap the benefits of all that work in my friendship with Armida, Frank and their family... My condolences and love to you in this time of sorrow. Clara Murphy
