Maria Luisa Herrera Garza was born to Leopoldo and Consuelo on August 25, 1949. She passed away in a Corpus Christi hospital on March 12, 2025, she was 75.

Mary graduated from Premont High School in 1969. She completed two years of business school and later worked for Sun Oil Company, Dunn Chevrolet, Trevino Auto Works and as a Deputy Clerk at the Brooks County District Clerks Office.

She married Jesus "Chuy" Garza in 1971 and was married for 44 years. She had two daughters, Adabel (San Antonio) and LeeAnna (Falfurrias).

Mary was introduced to baseball by her husband and supported her two favorite teams, the Houston Astros and the Falfurrias Jerseys. Over the years she volunteered to help with Falfurrias Little League, Brooks County Fair Association and always supported the Falfurrias Fire Department.

She did various crafts, made quilts but her true passion was being in the kitchen. She enjoyed to cook but especially loved baking. She had hundreds, if not thousands of recipes. She used to bake for the holidays, weddings and any special occasion. Two of her all-time favorites were banana bread and ranger cookies. If you were fortunate enough to eat them, then you knew her secret ingredient was served up in love.

Proceeded in death by her parents Leopoldo and Consuelo Herrera her husband Jesus "Chuy" Garza and her adopted son Jorge Martinez.

She is survived by her two daughters Adabel Garza of San Antonio, Texas and LeeAnna Garza of Falfurrias, Texas.

Adopted sons Moises, Oscar, Danilo, Octavio, Rafael and Antonio Martinez, adopted daughter Silvia Martinez.

Three sisters Esperanza (Max) Navarro of Premont, Texas, Martha Herrera of Corpus Christ, Texas and Betty Benavides of Falfurrias, Texas. One brother Leopoldo Herrera Jr. of Premont, Texas.

Serving as Pallbearers: Max Nararro Jr., Jacob Navarro, Omar Pena, Randy Bitterly, David Guerra, Sammy Garza Jr.,Steven Garza and Alfredo Garza.. Honorary Pallbearers will be Antonio Palacios, Steve Saldana, Noe Benavides Jr. and Brian Huber.

A Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Monday March 17,2025 at the Alaniz Funeral Home in Falfurrias, Texas. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. March 18, 2025 at the Alaniz Funeral Home.

Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias, Texas.
