Maria Pasut

PASUT, Maria - La Nina Cossarina has gone to join her Gigi (deceased January 25, 1981). Maria (nee Cossarin) Pasut was born on December 26, 1912 in San Giovanni di Casarsa and passed away in her sleep at Villa Colombo on October 31, 2010. Although Maria was born in San Giovanni di Casarsa she was raised in her beloved Prodolon. The youngest of 8 children, Maria was the last remaining member of her family. Maria followed her husband Luigi Pasut (Gigi) to Canada in 1956. She worked for many years at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital until her retirement in 1977. Maria leaves her daughters Italica Battiston (Giuliano) and Angela Pasut and grandchildren David (Ivy), Jessica, Sara and Melanie. Maria was a special zia to many nephews and nieces in Canada, Italy and the USA. Family will receive visitors at the Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave.), on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Ave., at Dufferin St.) on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery (1450 St. Clair Ave. W., west of Dufferin St.).
