Maria Swanson Obituary
Maria Mercedes Romaguera Swanson was born Jan. 26, 1934 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She passed away Sat., Mar. 9, 2013 in Sea., WA. Daughter of Arturo Romaguera Diaz and Maria Mercedes Pont Flores Romaguera. Mercedes met the love of her life, Stanley Swanson, and they married one year later. They raised their 3 children in the Woodridge neighborhood in Bellevue. Mercedes was active in the Sacred Heart Parish. Most recently Mercedes resided at the Evergreen Adult Family Home in North Seattle and Ida Culver in Ravenna.
Mercedes leaves behind her devoted children Elizabeth and Craig, Arthur and Beth, and John; Grandchildren John, Grace, Audrey, Isabel and Emelia and her siblings Milagros, Arturo and Teresita.
Mercedes did ordinary things in extraordinary ways. She was a woman of great faith who recognized the grace of God even in the most tragic of circumstances.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley, grandson Nathan and her sister Isabel.
The Funeral Mass for Maria Mercedes Swanson will be held on Monday, March 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Seattle. The rosary will be said in the chapel there beforehand, starting at 10:15 a.m. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a luncheon reception in the church hall. Today is a "Celebrate Mercedes Day"! We are in Arizona visiting our daughter Karen's family. We have had you in our thoughts and prayers since early this morning. Mercedes was a Joyful, Faith filled friend!! We will miss her! As we continue to remember Mercedes may she, her dear Mom, Stan, Margie Doyle and all who have gone before us remember us and put a "word" in on our behalf! Our love, prayers and sympathy to the family.

I was so sorry to hear of Mercedes' passing. I met her through WICS, the support group for those whose beloved spouses or partners had died. She was such a sweet, lively lady. I will always remember the great Halloween parties she had at her home for the WICS group. I regret that I will be unable to attend her services due to an appointment I'm unable to change. My thoughts, prayers, and sympathy are with her loving family during this difficult time.
