Maria Elena Valdez

Maria Elena Valdez, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in El Paso, Texas on September 15, 2018 surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was an amazing Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Federico Valdez †, her parents, and 6 siblings. She is survived by her loving children; Yolanda (Carlos), Eduardo (Gabriela), and Elizabeth (Jose); 8 cherished grandchildren, Karla, Maida, Maria Isabel, James, Melanie, Marco, Marlena, and Julian; and 2 precious great-grandchildren, Luis Aaron and Maddison. She is also survived by her brother, Alejandro Calvillo and sister, Maria Guadalupe Huerta, and numerous nieces and nephews. Our mother lived an extraordinary life and will be remembered for her remarkable humor, open heart, and willingness to always speak her mind. A visitation for Maria will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a vigil at 7:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive. A funeral mass will take place Friday, September 21, 2018 at 12:30 PM at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter Drive with an interment immediately following at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 South Zaragoza Road.
