MARIA YOUSSEF Obituary
Of Dayton and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, beloved by many, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2012. Maria was born to Dr. Gregory and Vera Altschuller on September 23, 1932. She is survived by her husband, Kamal Youssef; her son, Saul Youssef; her son Hisham, Youssef, his wife Rebecca Slak and their two children Ivan and Leo; by daughter Mounira Ragsdale, her husband, George Ragsdale and their two children Alexa and George III. Private events will be arranged by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for either the American Friends Service Committee, online at www.afsc.org, or by mail to AFSC, 1501 Cherry Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102, or to the Indiana County Community Action Program, online at www.iccap.net or by mail to ICCAP, Box 187, Indiana, PA 15701. THE JOHN A. LEFDAHL FUNERAL HOME is entrusted with the arrangements.

Maria was a guiding light for decency, compassion, fairness, love, peace, tolerance, and unity. Through her influence on so many of us, her legacy will be lasting. My sympathy to Maria's family and to all of us who have been touched by her humaneness.

Her commitment and her relentless work for Peace and Justice in the Middle East since the 80's was an inspiration for
me to care, to get involved. What a loss it is for those of us working for peace and justice.
But more so, what a loss to you her beloved family. You are in my prayers.
