Mariana Raposo Obituary
She was born in New Bedford, residing in S. Dartmouth and the last 7 years in New Bedford. She was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Vieira) Andrade; and the wife for 64 years of Emidio D. Raposo.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she was involved in many activities including the Women's Club, the Senior Associates, a Eucharistic Minister, as well as a member of the choir. She was also a member of the New Bedford Women's Club and the Chorus at Mattapoisett Middle School. Mrs. Raposo was previously employed as a teachers aide in the New Bedford School Administration Building, specializing in translations.
Her family includes husband: Emidio D. Raposo of New Bedford; 2 sons: Rev. John A. Raposo, Chaplain at Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River and Emidio Joseph "Micky" Raposo of New Bedford; 2 daughters: Theresa Arruda and her husband, James of Marion and Sister Pauline Raposo, S.N.D. of Lawrence; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Maria Joao Soares.
Funeral from the AUBERTINE-LOPES FUNERAL HOME, 129 Allen Street Saturday morning at 7:45 with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00. Visiting hours Friday evening in the funeral home from 5:00-8:00. Interment in St. John Cemetery.
