Howard Lewis Love
age 89, of Canton and Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Dec. 18, 2013 in Aultman Hospital. Lewis was born in Noble County, Ohio Jan. 29, 1924 to the late Ross and Grace (Orr) Love. He graduated from Summerfield high School in 1942 and Kent State University in 1950. Lewis served in the U.S. navy at the end of WWII. After graduating from Kent Sate in Accounting his first job was selling household goods, door to door for the L.B. Price Company in Canton. Later he became the auditor for them in the Mid West Region. Around 1956 he started the H L Love Company, Furniture and Appliances in Canton. Later he and his business partner, Dr. Ron Fuller, received the franchise for Lums restaurants in Franklin County Ohio. They had 12 restaurants in Columbus and Central Ohio. For many years he and his wife Donna enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Punta Gorda, Fla. His favorite hobbies were golf, tennis and fishing. In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by an infant brother and the love of his life, his wife Donna Mae (Holzworth) Love on July 17, 2005. They were married in 1955. He is survived by his sisters, Arlene Smith of Caldwell, Ohio and Jean (Jack) Patterson of Toledo, Ohio. Brother, Ross Jr. of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 12 noon Saturday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home, 710 Tuscarawas St. W. with Rev. Kevin Slyh officiating. Interment will be private for the family.
