Marie Chini Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 31, 2011.
Marie Elaine Chini entered God's Eternal Paradise at 5:50 pm on October 29, 2011. She was 83 years old.

In her late teens and early twenties, Marie was well known in her hometown communtity as the "Cutest Girl in Castroville".

Marie and her husband Edward Raymond Chini were married in Castroville California (near Salinas) in 1948. After having two children, they moved their new family from Salinas to Encinitas in 1951 into a small house rented to them by Ed's father and mother Joseph and Paola Chini. In 1960 Marie and her husband purchased their new freshly built home in Cardiff by the Sea. At that time they had 3 children: Paulette Elizabeth 10 years old, Ronald Edward 9 years old, and Robert Steven 5 years old. Their pets were a dog named Sparky and a couple of parakeets named Chipper & Babe.

Marie enjoyed working at the Drug Store in downtown Encinitas for many years. It was a great opportunity for Marie to meet and greet people, something she loved to do. Later in her life she worked as a cafeteria and yard assistant at two local elementary schools. She was known to hundreds of schoolchildren throughout the years as "Grandma Marie". Marie loved music, loved to sing, loved to dance and all of her friends knew her as having a good sense of humor and always enjoyed her lively character, her wit, but more importantly, her willingness to care for others. She was always willing to give of her time and support for those she knew and loved. Marie was generous with handouts to the homeless as well, giving food and clothing whenever she could.

Marie had a few of her own special entrees she would prepare for family and others. Her Lasagna was amazing and her Enchiladas were fantastic. Her Macaroni salad was her own which was addictive.

Marie has battled health issues the past decade. So, today it is somewhat comforting to all of us to know that her physical suffering is over and is now liberated from her earthly bondage to a weary body and has again returned to the Realm of Angels. She was blessed to be in her own home among those who love her at the time of her death. Marie has completed her task here, raising a family, being fully involved in the lives of her 7 grandchildren, and many years later, delighted with her 14 great-grandchildren. Marie took on full nursing care for her husband Ed throughout those extremely difficult 2 years of his illness until the day he died there at home. At that time, she and Ed were both 62 years old. Marie has weathered many storms throughout her life experiences with the strength and dignity of a strong, yet delicate woman. So now, she has returned Home to the Glorious embrace of God and Eternal Peace, she is joined once again with those who departed before her.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Ed Chini, her sister Rosaline Silva, and her brother Edward Sarmento.

She is survived by her daughter Paulette and husband Jack Read, her first son Ron Chini and daughter in law Shannon Rush, and her second son Robert Chini and wife Gabrielle, her older brother Mervyn Sarmento and her younger brother Kenneth Sarmento and her good friend and sister-in-law Lee Coryell. She leaves behind her beloved dog "Tinker", who was a gift from Robert and Gabrielle 10 years ago.

Marie has 7 beloved grandchildren: Kristi Youngflesh, Brandon Youngflesh, Sarah Mosely, Amy Chini, Kate Chini, Adam Chini and Jordan Chini. She has 14 precious great-grandchildren: Tyler Southworth Noe, Shelby Noe, Wesley Alley, Anthony Bellesario, Conner Youngflesh, Austin Youngflesh, Cody Youngflesh, Jasmine Donez, Kiaurah Mosley, Isabella Mosley, Jaiden Mosley, Kieran Seibert, Star Solache, and Lilyana Solache.

Marie will rest Eternally at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Oceanside California.

Marie lived her life with a great sense of obligation to her Faith and church and with a never-ending devotion to her family. She will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and love her.
