Marie Doucette Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 4, 2011.
Rumford – Marie B. Doucette, age 87 of Cumberland St., died Saturday January 1, 2011
at her residence with her loving family at her side, following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born in Caraquet, NB on December 8, 1923 a daughter of William and Alice (Parise) Blanchard.
Marie was employed in Bridgeport Connecticut at Remington Arms, making bandoliers for the servicemen during WWII.
She later went to work for Diamond Match Co. for 20 years, where she served as a shop steward.
Marie was a faithful communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. She enjoyed her daily trips to her sons' camp at Worthley Pond with her sister Sylvia, and her nieces. She also enjoyed her weekly poker games with her family and friends, cribbage at the Eagles, Legion and the church, and her occasional trips to Hollywood Slots.
She will be remembered as a kind, caring, compassionate, generous, feisty, and loving sister, mom, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Marie took pride in being the boss. We will miss her terribly, but do understand she is now at peace with our Lord.
Surviving are her children; Sandra Pomerleau and husband Eddie of Rumford, Raymond Doucette and wife Bonnie of Whiting, NJ, Pearl Snowman and husband Larry of Peru, and Lee Doucette and wife Brenda of Peru; a sister, Sylvia Fontaine of Rumford; eight grandchildren, Tim, Mark, Lisa, Kara, Stephanie, Dawn, Andrew and Katie; and seven great grandchildren, Casey, Kelly, Chandler, MacKenzie, Carson, Madison, and Rae Lynn.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Frank, two sisters, Germaine Dorion and Toni Slabi, three brothers, Lucien, Paul and Henry Blanchard; a grandson, Harry Doucette, and a great grandson Mitchell Ryan Redmond.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Marie's memory may be made to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice 15 Strawberry Ave. Lewiston, ME 04243.

I always enjoyed visiting Marie. When visiting my Dad, I would walk by her house to see if she was on her porch and stop to visit. I liked listening to her stories. I visisted her last summer when I was home for our class reunion.

I know how much you all will miss her. I always looked forward to going to Maine and spending time with Marie. She was so full of fun and sometimes so darn bullheaded we all just let her get her way. Marie, my friend, I am going to miss going to camp with you, playing cards and giving you a big hug. I will see you again in heaven and all of us can have a happy reunion. Sandy, a great big hug to you and I'll see you this summer.
Love and hugs

To my friend of over 70 years, Marie, you will be very missed by all of us. You were a woman who "stood her ground" and held to your beliefs which sometimes led to our great "debates"
Love and miss you my dear friend
