Marie Haflin Schwartz, 83, daughter of William and Mary Haflin of Trumansburg, NY, passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 11, 2014, at Premier Nursing and Rehab of Jacksonville, NC.
She participated in many activities at Autumn Ridge Senior Housing and frequently enjoyed senior church suppers. Earlier in her life she was an accomplished bowler and tennis player, and she was a lifelong, avid fan of Boston sports. Marie's love for the Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox was well known and her knowledge of sports amazed everyone. She also enjoyed the beach whenever possible, but Marie's favorite thing in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Marie is preceded in death by her daughter, Marci S. Schwartz; and her brothers, William ""Bill"" Haflin, Jr. and Ralph Haflin.
She is survived by her son, Geary A. Schwartz and wife Samantha and their children Dylan and Kyle of Clarksville, TN; son, Darryl W. Schwartz and wife Lisa and their children Brent and Ashley of Jacksonville, NC; son, Kevin H. Schwartz and wife Linda and their children Ryan, Brandon and Mikaylah of Dracut, MA; daughter, Lori Schwartz of Hudson, NH; and sister, Carol Northrup of Trumansburg, NY.
A visitation for Marie will be held at 10 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville on Saturday, Nov. 15 followed by a private burial and service officiated by Rev. Donna Weddle.
Arrangements by Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville.
