Marie Virginia St John

Marie St. John of Glace Bay passed suddenly on 24 November 2013. She is survived by her best friend and partner for life Jay Bryant and their two cats Tobi and Shadow; her children William Van Doorn, Olivia Lampel (Alex), Sinead St John (Jeff), and grandson Ronan; her little sister Heather (Mike), and her niece Sarah, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Charlene (Sudds) Geofreddo, her father Joseph St John, and her grandparents Charles and Virginia Sudds. Growing up in South Bar, Marie loved Cape Breton with a fiery passion. She moved to Ontario as a teenager but never forgot her one true home and talked about it endlessly until finally returning in 2017. Marie spent her last years working with her close friend Janet of Cape Breton Originals, advocating for others and fighting tirelessly to make the world a better place for those around her. Marie believed anything was possible. She preached the power of empathy and her love knew no bounds. Marie was a mother to many, and a friend to all. A true warrior at heart.

A celebration of life will be held at South Bar Fire Hall located at 2148 NS-28, South Bar, NS on Friday 1 Dec from 7 pm-12 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name to The Ally Centre Cape Breton, Loaves And Fishes Food Bank, and Transition House in Sydney.
