Marilyn Hausfeld Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 9 to Mar. 14, 2023.
Marilyn Jane Hausfeld, age 73, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Marilyn was born June 8, 1949, in Celina, Ohio, to the late Roman and Mildred (Davis) Hausfeld. She was preceded in death by her parents, younger brother Robert, younger sister Patricia Clough, and brother-in-law David Hissong. She leaves behind a large family whom she loved dearly. This includes her two children: Joel (Ashley) Ferguson and Ellie De Marchis, both of Centerville; and five grandchildren: Brooke, Kelly and Thomas Ferguson; and Gino and Adriana De Marchis. She is also survived by five siblings: Martha (Dave) Bechtel, Theresa (PJ) Garlock, Joseph Hausfeld, Joannie (Jan) Kentner, and Annie (Michael) Bollheimer. She will also be greatly missed by her loving partner, Michael Oxendine.

Marilyn graduated from Marion Local High School in 1967. She then obtained a nursing degree from Good Samaritan College of Nursing in Dayton. After graduating in 1970, she began her career specializing in psychiatric care. After fifteen years of nursing, Marilyn found her true calling as an elementary school teacher. She retired from Middletown City Schools in 2018, after a fulfilling career with much recognition. Marilyn had a passion for life and lived in the moment. She spent her free time with family and her two loving pets, Buckeye and Ruthie. She was an avid gardener and loved nature. She will be remembered for her hilarious sense of humor, giant heart and gentle caregiving. Everyone who met Marilyn appreciated her energy, quick wit, kindness and generosity. Even in death, she continued her loving ways by donating her body to the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. Marilyn filled the room like a ray of sunshine and will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be sent to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
