Marilyn Copple DeWolf Hembree, age 87, of Council Bluffs, passed away January 21, 2021. Marilyn was born October 27, 1933, in Sioux City Iowa to the late Jess and Violet Copple. She was a graduate Sioux City East High School. Marilyn married Orian "Bud" Hembree, Jr., November 23, 1974. She was the director of nursing for the Pottawattamie County Care Facility for 22 years, retiring in 1996. She was the winner of the McDermott Award for work with mental health issues. Preceded in death by husband, Orian in June of 2017. She is also preceded by children, Jessica Smith, Howard DeWolf, Thomas DeWolf; siblings, Howard Copple, Jace Copple and Bonnie Shumansky. Survived by children, Cathy (Tim) Kemplin, David DeWolf, Timothy DeWolf, Julie Clark all of Council Bluffs, Michael (Julie) DeWolf of Arion, IA; stepdaughter, Marcia (Jose) Lopez of Arkansas; ; sister, Shirley Smith of Springfield NE; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Visitation Monday 6 to 8 p.m. Services Tuesday 11 a.m., at the Cutler O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marilyn was the second mother to an entire neighborhood. Always a kind word and always patient with us.
A wonderful, warm, and loving person who I was privileged to know and love.
