Marilyn Nolan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 30, 2023.
Marilyn Jane Nolan fought hard, but finally lost her three year battle with melanoma.

Marilyn was a woman of many talents - she could sing, was a great dancer and whistler, and had a wonderful ear for accents and language. She appreciated things of beauty and brought her strong sense of style to her own handiwork in both her jewelry designs and fabric creations. If you needed to have something organized, researched or fixed, she was the one to call on. Always ready for an adventure, she loved to travel, especially her early adventures around Europe and living in Switzerland, where here daughter was born. She was always game for skiing, biking, hiking, canoeing or white water rafting.

Her large family was everything to her - her five sisters, Judy, Nancy, Janet, Claire and Margaret, and her brother Tim, grew up entertained by her antics, either doing her rendition of the latest TV commercials or reading the newspaper in one of her accents. She loved her mother Evelyn and father John and cared for them tenderly until their deaths. She was always tickled to learn of the

latest escapades of her nieces and nephews Emilie, Martin, Elsbeth, Brady, Lily, Maya, Corinne, Emmanuel and Nolan. She was also devoted to her furry friends, Tina, Roscoe and Chevy. But her heart belonged to her two children, Isabelle and Rudy Rindlisbacher and her treasured granddaughter, Stella. A huge hole is left in all their lives.

Marilyn was a wonderful friend and truly cared about their lives and families. Many of her colleagues became lifelong friends.

She was a beautiful woman, a proud liberal, feisty and hard-working, with an irreverent sense of humor and unique view of the world. Humility, another of her traits, led her to see herself as ordinary, but we all knew better: she was EXTRAordinary!

Marilyn's family surrounded her with love in her final days and is extremely grateful for the loving care she received at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, Mass. In keeping with Marilyn's wishes, no public services will be held. Donations in her name can be made to Care Alliance Hospice House: https://giving.caredimensions.org

My heart goes out to your family and friends. Margaret let my sister Claire know that Marilyn had passed.
In my first exciting day of living in Boston the Nolan´s sisters figured into fun times out and about. I marveled at the stories and their complete coolness.
Thank you for the memories. My heart is broken for all who hold you so dear. Deepest sympathy and condolences.

Deepest condolences to the Nolan family Marilyn was an amazing person, one of the most affectionate & kind people I was lucky to work with !! We miss her cheerful smile & energy at the office. Marilyn was a great friend to several of us at work and I will always cherish the many conversations we had, she always had great stories to share! She was genuinely interested in hearing about our kids, families, dogs and always super helpful to everyone. Rest in peace, dear friend

Oh beautiful Marilyn. I just heard from Claire of your ascent. Heaven will be a much more beautiful and stylish place with you donning your Angel wings. Memories of you are full of humor, beauty, and joy. Always brilliant and knowing the right answers to my questions. I adored you . You kept me in the know of coolest fashions. Your luminous spirit will live in my heart. Oh what a time it was at ACIS! My deepest prayers and condolences for your children Rudy and Isabella, and Margaret and your beloved family. Nina

Back in the old days, we had so much fun - at ACIS and afterwards in Zurich and during our reunions in Boston. Marilyn - so fashion forward bringing over the latest from Europe! You enriched my life with laughter, serious long talks and adventures. Lots of love to all the Nolans and Rindlisbachers and beyond. xxx Claire and Menno

To Jude and all of the family,
A good memory of our canoe ride down the Russian River the day I almost met my maker. It was a gorgeous day, but hot - the sun was at our backs and we took our life vests off and then we hit the rapids and our boat capsized. I can remember hanging on to a limb while you, Jude, and Marilyn made a human chain to pull me out. Despite the fact it was a tad bit hair-raising, we did have a good time that day. AND it was Marilyn´s short hair cut that year that prompted me to cut all my hair off when we return to Boston just before we left for Germany. It was so attractive on her!

Marilyn was always front and center in the family. I enjoyed Marilyn as my cousin closest to my own age. Her infectious laugh was irresistible. I´ll remember her always.
