Marilyn Lee Rice

April 13, 1954 - March 11, 2025

Marilyn was born in Winchester Massachusetts, but lived most of her life in Woburn. She attended the Immaculate Conception Grammar School, then graduated from Woburn High in 1972. She went on to study at Middlesex Community College, and the Westfield State where she earned her degree in education. Marilyn was born to be an educator, she taught in elementary school, special education, tutored during the summer and worked as a camp counselor with Special Needs youth for the Burlington Recreation Department. In her later years, she studied to become an Elder Peer Specialist. She was a pioneer, being one of the first two to work with elders in Massachusetts as mentors, helping the elderly identify their needs to stay and thrive in their homes. In keeping with her love of education, Marilyn donated her body to science so others may learn.

She loved spending time with her mother, siblings and nieces and nephews, always hoping for the best in their lives. She was always genuinely happy and proud of her friends' and family's successes in life. She enjoyed all types of crafting including baking, sewing, macrame and jewelry making. In her young teenage years, Marilyn joined the Immaculate Conception Queensmen Drum and Bugle Corp. as a member of the color guard. They competed in both local and national competitions. Despite her health issues, Marilyn walked to raise money for various Organizations she believed in. Marilyn was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

Marilyn is predeceased by her parents, John and Effie Rice and her brother Daniel Rice. She leaves behind her sisters Catherine Sweeney, Barbara Guiney and Linda Gauthier. And brothers Fred, Stephen and Jonathan Rice along with several nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, and many friends.
