Marilyn Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2025.
Marilyn J. Williams 92 of Boise passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 surrounded by her children.

Born in 1933 in Twin Falls, Idaho to loving parents Warren and Rebecca.

She and her family then moved to Boise when she was nine years old.

She was a proud graduate of Boise High School in 1951 and cherished her lifelong friendships formed with her high school gal group, staying close until she became the last one standing, a testament to her enduring spirit.

Just after high school she ended up at Randolph Air Force Base to help her brother who was an Air Force fighter pilot and his family after the heartbreaking loss of her young niece.

While at Randolph AFB she met the love of her life, a handsome young lieutenant who was a WWII B26 pilot. They were married on the Boise VA grounds in a small chapel and were married for 59 years, months shy of their 60th wedding anniversary before Bill's passing. A marriage filled with laughter, resilience and devotion for each other and her children.

Marilyn worked as a brilliant office manager throughout the years, known for her sharp mind and impeccable organizational skills. No matter the company her warm smile and leadership left a lasting mark.

Marilyn loved her neighborhood and cherished living near old family friends, spending time with her family and being outdoors in her beautiful yard tending to her flowers. She enjoyed visiting with her caring neighbors and those passing by and would always have a pocket of treats for the neighborhood dogs which brought her joy.

Marilyn had a heart full of love for her children and grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, no matter how big or small, especially her cherished companion Shadow who was by her side through life's later chapters. Even in assisted living, Marilyn's radiant smile, heartfelt hugs, and generous spirit touched the lives of fellow residents, friends, and staff alike. She and little Shadow brought joy wherever they went.

Marilyn was a true patriot and dearly loved her country. A true fighter until the end, Marilyn's legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she left behind. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as someone who loved deeply, gave freely, and brought light into every room.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents and her brothers Dick and Bob.

She is survived by her loving children Brad (Cindy) Williams, Mark (Nancy) Williams, Melissa (Chuck) Sherfick; grandchildren Heather (Chris), Kristen (Josh), Mike (Sydney); Nate (Esther), Caleb (Katie) and Emily (Avery) along with 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephew and beloved Shadow.

Our beloved mother will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers and loving friends who brought her joy and made her smile with their loving hugs over the past couple years, especially during her final months. Your kindness and patience brought her comfort and meant the world to our family.

Since my son lived next door to Marilyn since about 1999 and enjoyed her so much, I too was able to get to know her. When I was at my son's home, Marilyn and I spent long visits over the front fence, both avid talkers, missing what we were supposed to be doing, getting to know one another. I recognized so many lovely traits mentioned in her obituary from my time spent with Marilyn. When I see the house, I always miss her presence there, and our visits.
