Marilyn Wolter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 4, 2018.
Marilyn Annette Wolter (née Kendall) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Good Friday, March 30, 2018, peacefully at home. She was born on December 28, 1936 in Clarkston, Washington. In the summer of 1954, while working at a frozen pea processing plant she met the love of her life, Duane G. Wolter. Following Duane's graduation from the civil engineering program at Washington State University, the two were married in Clarkston on April 6, 1957. Their 61 year union produced three children, Sharyl, Mary, and Robert, and took them on adventures around the world. Throughout their moves and travels, they met so many people that they call dear friends.

After settling in Sugar Land in 1972, Marilyn became an active member of the Sugar Creek Country Club Ladies Golf Association and enjoyed many years on the course. She was recognized for hitting two "hole in one" shots along the way. In later years she enjoyed bridge with her friends. In 2013 and 2015 the births of her two great-granddaughters added more joy to her life. Marilyn was a woman of great faith and greatly cherished her church family of 46 years at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Duane Wolter, her children, Sharyl and long time friend Mark Hanneman, Mary and her husband Chester Makowski, and son Robert and his wife Julie, her granddaughter Kendall and husband Seth Bay, grandson Adam Stevens and his fiancée Gohar Firozgary, and two great-granddaughters Sawyer Grace and Emery Kate Bay. Surviving also are her sisters Dorine Williams of Everett, WA, and Dorothy Norbeck of Keizer, OR, and brother David Kendall and his wife Arlys of Clarkston, WA, sister-in-law Janet Elliott and husband Richard of Palm Springs, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents Jesse and Mary Kendall of Clarkston, WA preceded her into heaven.

The family appreciates the love and compassion Marilyn received from Dr. Janet Tu and Jamie John at MD Anderson Sugar Land for five years along with the wonderful care from Basira Akanni and others from At Your Side Home Care and the staff of Steadfast Home Companion Services. Silverado Hospice was a blessing for the last week.

A memorial service will be held at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, 431 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, TX at 3:00 PM on April 21, 2018. Memorials may be addressed to Women's Ministries at the Church, to MD Anderson Cancer Center, or the charity of your choice
