MORRISON, Ill. — Marion Buikema, 90, of Morrison, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Rev. Thomas R. Petty, Pastor of the Morrison United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2008, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL. Marion Buikema was born February 16, 1918, in Fulton, IL, the son of Louis and Mary (Newendyke) Buikema. He attended the Lockhart Grade School in rural Fulton, IL. He married Gertrude M. Tiesman on December 28, 1944, in Fulton; she survives him. He farmed along with his wife in the rural Fulton, IL area, and he was a member of Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; three daughters: Shirley (Mrs. Arlyn) Schroeder, Morrison, IL, Sharon (Mrs. Mark) Morris, West Bend, WI, and Sandy Schipper, Morrison, IL; nine grandchildren: Deborah (Mrs. Eric) Wallace, Deanna (Sean Kelly) Thompson, Julie Schroeder, Jill (Mrs. Jason) Smith, Steve (Ani) Drolema, Kristy (Mrs. Marvin) VanderWiel, Mark Drolema, Jamie Drolema, Stacey (Tim Villa) Decker; two step-grandchildren: Adam and Ryan Morris; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy (Allen) Poel, Morrison, IL, Mrs. Luella Deelsnyder, Clinton, IA; and one brother, Louis (Helen) Buikema, Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by five sisters: Winnie VanZuiden, Lucy Pessman, Jenny Beckman, Nellie Klimstra, Tina Sissing; and two brothers: Henry and Walter Buikema.
