Marion WILLAN Obituary

WILLAN, Marion S. , Age 92, of Mesa, AZ, went home to heaven Monday, December 23, 2013. She was born in Grand Rapids, WI, on September 1, 1921, to Archie and Margaret Snyder. Marion graduated from Lincoln High School, and worked for Winn & Murgatroyd and the City Gas Company in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. She married Leonard Willan on January 11, 1947. They lived in Wisconsin Rapids until 1956, when they relocated to Mesa, AZ.Marion was blessed with a strong servant heart and spent the majority of her adult life as a volunteer. Some of her accomplishments include raising four children, teaching Sunday school, doing the bookkeeping and serving on the church altar guild for decades and was a registered adult Girl Scout for over 50 years. She also did all of the business management for L & M Custom Auto, her and her husband Leonard's automobile maintenance business.Marion is survived by four children: Peter Willan (Barbara) of Mesa, AZ; Kathy Burchett (Byron) of Casa Grande, AZ; Sharon Melton (Michael) of Buckeye, AZ; and Vicki Willan (Craig Morris) of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, and one sister, Myrtle Peaslee of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by one son, Dale Allen Willan, and her beloved husband, Leonard.A celebration of life service will be held on January 11, 2014, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Mesa, AZ at 11 am.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 322 North Horne Street, Mesa, AZ, 85203; Arizona Cactus Pine Girl Scout Council, 101 E. "Mrs. Willan" as I always called her from the day I met her sometime in the early 1970s on. Such a good, good woman. Our lives are diminished with her passing. God bless you Mrs. Willan.
