Marissa N. Tharp, 20, of New Boston, Ill., died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Alorton, Ill.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005, at First Christian Church, Keithsburg, Ill. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2005, at First Christian Church, Keithsburg.
Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, Ill., is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Westmer High School Volleyball Program.
She was born January 4, 1985, in Aledo, to Kenneth and Mary (Wagner) Tharp.
She was a 2003 graduate of Westmer High School, Joy, Ill., where she was on the National Honor Society and played volleyball.
Marissa was attending Western Illinois University, just completing her sophomore year. She had worked at Sloan's Produce Market and the Dairy Delight in New Boston. Most recently, she was a waitress at Flood Waters in Muscatine, Iowa.
She enjoyed swimming and loved the river. She was a member of First Christian Church, Keithsburg.
Survivors include her parents, Kenny and Mary Tharp, New Boston; one sister, Erica Tharp, New Boston; grandparents, Irvin and Kay Tharp, Keithsburg, and Clyde "Dig" and Leila Wagner, New Boston; great-grandmother, Evelyn Link, Oquawka, Ill.; four aunts and uncles, Laurie and Randy Short, Oquawka, Ronnie and Darci Tharp, Kirkwood, Ill., Deb and Tim Sloan, New Boston, and Brad and Mindy Wagner, O'Fallon, Mo.; and cousins, Abby, Randi Lynn and Roxanne Short, Mallory and Miranda Tharp, Chloe Wagner and Jennifer Turnis.
