Marjorie S. Hartman

Marjorie Hartman, 94, formerly of Renton, WA, passed away on December 17, 2011. She was born to August and Hermione Seidel on a farm in Worley, Idaho. Her mother died when Marjorie was only four and she spoke with pride of her father who lovingly raised his family alone. Marjorie graduated from Eastern Washington University and then earned her Master's in Education at Columbia University in New York City. She taught in Omak, WA, before her marriage to Bill Hartman. She then taught at Boulevard Park in Highline and Campbell Hill in Renton. Mrs. Hartman was a beloved primary school teacher, teaching scores of young children to read. She was a member of the State Retired Teachers' Association and Lakeridge Lutheran Church near her home of more than 50 years. In retirement, she enjoyed knitting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her son Russell Hartman and his wife Sheri (Thomas) of Bremerton, and Robert Hartman and his wife Carrie of Covington, WA; and grandchildren Emily, Rukshana and Anna. Her memorial service is scheduled for January 7th 2 p.m. at Lakeridge Lutheran Church 7465 S. 112th St. Seattle 98178. Donations to Northwest Harvest, 711 Cherry St., Seattle, WA 98104.
