Marjorie Jarnagin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 13, 2025.
Marjorie Campbell Jarnagin, age 94 (born October 29, 1931), went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 13, 2025. She was a pillar of strength and model of Christ's love to her children and grandchildren, known for her extraordinary generosity and deep concern for others. Marge grew up on a farm as one of eight children of the Reverend Joseph Bryan Campbell and Drusilla Morton Campbell. She married Benjamin Bruce Jarnagin in 1951. They raised two children -- Benita Gail Jarnagin McArthur (married to Stainton Lowry McArthur) and Theodore Ray Jarnagin (married to Donna Stair Jarnagin) -- and spent years building relationships together in the furniture industry. Marge had a keen eye for interior design and put it to use decorating the showrooms where they sold their furniture. But Marge's true passion was gardening. She had an extraordinary green thumb, and leaves a legacy of trees and picturesque landscapes scattered across the East Tennessee mountains she called home. Some families argue over taking the car keys from an elderly loved one; Marge's family debated taking her gardening tools. (They never could bring themselves to do it). At 50 Marge learned to play golf. She accomplished 2 hole-in-ones during her playing years. Marge also loved to travel and visited all 50 states and several countries. Marge is survived by her youngest sister Betty Campbell Newman, her two children and their spouses, and four grandchildren -- Heather Ann McArthur, Nikki Lynn McArthur, Benjamin Michael Jarnagin, and William Bryan Jarnagin -- who knew she was the best grandmother ever. They are all devastated by her loss, but their lives are forever changed for the better because Marge was apart of them. Marjorie was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Morristown and loved her Sunday School Class of lady friends. Donations in Memory of Marjorie should be made to the First Baptist Church Morristown Building Fund. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Alder Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Block Spring Church Cemetery in Blaine, TN at 11:00 am on Monday, November 17, 2025.
