Rescue, California - Mark "Tony" Anton Annis, 74, of Rescue, California, succumbed to natural causes on May 19, 2022. He was born August 18, 1947. He grew up running the streets of San Francisco.
Tony is survived by son Tobija Annis, and daughter Novia Dubovik, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Tony's life is a patchwork of stories, adventures, talents, missteps, and regrets. During the late 60's and early 70's he worked for the Merchant Marines in the ship boiler rooms; did a short gig as a taxi driver in San Francisco; and owned a construction business in Rescue, CA. Later in life he became a self-taught viticulturist and turned the family farm into a 10-acre vineyard that produced locally award winning wines. He was a talented artist that loved working with pastels and scolded anyone who didn't know how to use them properly. Tony always had an escape route and passport in hand. His dream was to visit Patagonia-maybe he is there now.

I remember all the times him and I would talk about working on cars, vintage and new alike. When I was 14, I spent a week with him, working on his vineyard, sorting through his garages. I listened to the stories each thing had to go with it, the disassembled motorcycle that had been in an accident, the 65 Ford Pickup that he bought for his wife, the concrete mixer he used for construction. Everything had a story with him. I treasure the time we spent together and hope he may rest in peace.

When I was 27 I met my dad, Mark. It was 1997. My focus was for him to know his grandkids and great grand kids and to fill that curiosity in my life of finding out who was my dad. Mission complete. Rest in peace, dad.
