Mark Bradwell Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Nov. 7, 2015.
Mark Irving Grainge Bradwell May 11 1923 October 27 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grand-father, great-grand-father. He was born in Nanaimo and after serving in World War II graduated from UBC Electrical Engineering and worked most of his life with BC Hydro. Predeceased by his wife Ann in 2002, daughter Alice in 2014 and his sister Joyce in 2003, he is survived by his sons Gray (Lorna), Warren (Joelle), son-in-law Scott and his sister Sylvia (Pat). He is also survived by his grandchildren Tara, Lindsay, Dayna, Cameron, Jody, David, Kelly and numerous great-grandchildren. Mark loved books and languages, he was fluent in French, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin and could converse in many more. Once retired, Mark and his wife Ann traveled the world to places on all continents and spent many winters in Hawaii. Mark spent many years serving with the Boy Scouts, trying to play bridge but cards were never his luck and after his first heart attack enjoyed many sessions with the North Shore Cardiac Rehab. Mark enjoyed sending out his Christmas letter and will be truly missed this year by many. An informal gathering will be held at Molly Nye House 940 Lynn Valley Road, North Vancouver on November 14 2015 between 1:30 pm and 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers make a donation to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.

Mark was a wonderful man, a friend and a great person to be around with his wit and broad interests. I saw very little of him after he retired but we did speak on the phone quite a few times. I do not believe I ever met anyone who did not like Mark so there will be many saddened by his passing. Rest in Peace.

I was very sorry to hear that Mark passed away. We both worked for BC Hydro and I always enjoyed his wit and helpful attitude. Mark was always ready to help and teach you when needed. We also met sometimes after retirement and exchanged some ideas. I will miss him, and his occasional Hungarian words. God bless his soul.

I was very sorry to hear the news of Mark's passing. He was my first manager at BC Hydro, and my first impression of him was lasting. Friendly, welcoming, supportive and always quick with a smile and wit. I'm forever thankful to him for his part in my hiring to BC Hydro, and continued support through the years. A man for the ages. A man that I've missed since his retirement. My condolences to the family and his loved ones. God Bless.
