Mark Civetti Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 9, 2025.
Mark Patrick Civetti of Coral Springs, Florida passed away on November 29, 2024 after a 4+ year fight with ALS. Born on October 10, 1945 in Oakland, California, Mark lived a life filled with passion and dedication for his family, hobbies, professions, prayer and friends. Mark was a lover of all sports throughout his life, playing golf, ice hockey, football, and he was an All-Star baseball player.

Mark began his career in golf as a caddy at Woodland Country Club in Newton, Massachusetts while also playing on his high school golf team. His caddy experience included working as the Caddy Counselor at the Oyster Harbors Country Club, winning the Cape Caddy Championship and caddying in the 1963 US Open.

As a lifelong professional golfer, Mark shared his love for the sport through his work at several country clubs including Fort Lauderdale Country Club, Inverrary, Broken Woods Country Club, and the Country Club of Coral Springs. He found tremendous fulfillment in teaching golf skills to many, including his children. Mark also valued his professional experience as a Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Coral Springs.

Mark leaves behind his loving wife Julie, his children Brandon, Luci, Jeffrey, and Caren, five grandchildren, his siblings Jay, Beth, and Susan, brother-in-law Brian, sister-in-law Mary, brother-in-law Pedro, and mother-in-law Cecile. His family was a source of immense pride and joy throughout his life.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, January 17th, 2025, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church (5980 N University Dr., Parkland, FL 33067).

The Civetti Family extends their heartfelt gratitude to ALL who offered care and support during this time. Donations in Mark's memory may be made to Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS), a non-profit organization which provided tremendous support to Mark and his family, as well as many other families experiencing the struggles of ALS.

Over the past 20+ years, the Civetti family has become part of our "chosen" family. I am reminded of a saying shared when my own father passed away many, many years ago, one that certainly applies to Mark Civetti: A person´s true wealth is measured by the love of their children. Mark´s life was deeply rooted in his faith, devoted to his family, and enriched by his passion for sports, especially golf! His greatest joy came from the love he shared with Julie, Brandon, and Luci. May Mark´s memory shine brightly in our hearts till we meet again in God´s kingdom. Rest in peace dear friend. LAGBY

Markie... I have no doubt that mom and dad, cousin Terry and all the rest of the family greeted you on your arrival. You fought such a brave fight and while you are missed terribly, I know you rest easy now. Rest in sweet eternal peace...Bethie

In remembrance of Mark, forever in our hearts, always in our thoughts. I have known Mark more than 30 years and in fact have been welcomed into the Civetti family. What stands out in my mind about Mark is that above all else, Mark loved his family, his golf career, the Christmas season and all of its glory in celebrating it. I had the honor of assisting in Mark´s care during his battle with ALS. He was a fighter and was determined to stay strong physically and emotionally for his family. Despite his physical limitations, Mark shared many stories of his past and his sense of humor would frequently surface. You will be greatly missed.
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.

I got to know Mark in his last few months when I assisted with his caregiving. What stands out for me is how hard he fought, so that he could around for his family. A devoted family man who loved his home, looking out over his garden, and watching his sports on TV.

He was smart, strong willed, interesting, and had a good sense of humor. There were many moments that bring a smile to my face, or make me laugh out loud. And, I learned new lessons.

Thank you Mark. Rest in peace.

I met Mark on a cruise in 2015, with many of his family members. The family had their picture taken together, Mark dressed in his tuxedo and the rest of the family dressed to the nines. The picture turned out perfect. Mark was a very kind man, who loved his sports.
