I always felt inspired to ride more when I would see Mark ride and ride all around State College-up and down hills! What a great man, great wife, great family. His spirit will live for sure!

Mark and I were teammates on the Penn State basketball team for his sophomore and junior years. He was by far the best player on the team and we can thank him for any success that we had. We won about half of the games.
In 1961 I was in grad school, married to Liz (deceased) and living in Grad Circle Apt 5P. Mark and Deb were dating and were great company-5P was the go to place that year.
One night we decided to go to Florida for spring break. We had very little money, but Liz bought to the marriage a new car. So we had wheels. Deb immediately called her parents for permission to go. When they gave the OK, we thought they were really cool. Looking back they made a good decision. With very little money, we drove down and back without stopping. Mark insisted on bringing a blackjack. It was given to him as a gift from his father. For safety I guess. I made such fun of the blackjack that many years later Mark wanted to give it to me. I refused and hope that one of the kids has saved it. To my knowledge, it was never used.
I could go on and on, but you really had to be there. We were the best of friends for 65 years. Deb, I agree that remembering all the good times will be of some comfort.
I salute two of the best friends ever.
Peace. Wally

I never really new Mark except for the 3 months he was hired as a consultant by a company I worked for in State College, Pa in 1989 + -...I worked closely with him.......I have worked with many business leaders, marketers, ,managers, etc.. Most of their names I don't remember, but I do remember Mark and I have talked about him to my colleagues over the years...I think that says it all.
My sympathies.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mark. My father Jack DuMars Sr. and Mark were cousins. My father went to all of Marks games in 1957 and he told me of Marks basketball abilities, great ball handler and could shoot from anywhere. Till this day when people here my name Dumars they ask me if I was related to Mark the basketball player. Pretty amazing after all this time. I am sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear of this. My sincerest sympathy to Deb and family. Mark was a good friend to my late husband, John Fridley. They became friends at Sharon High and were part of the basketball team that took the State Championship in 1957. Mark was best man in our wedding. A good, good guy. May he rest in peace.
