Your Earth-Side Star
March 19, 2024
To the Man in the Moon,
Almost five years have come creeping around. I find it hard to hold onto memories now. Sadness is a welcome gift that keeps me in the shelter of your warm arms. Your smile haunts me. Your laughter is an echo in an empty chamber. A cell where I would gladly stay if I knew I could feel everything again. I miss you so very much. I need you. I want you back. Please. Whatever I did wrong, I want you to know that I would choose anything for penance. You mean the world to me. Please. I miss you too much, and I'm still hurting. I love you, daddy. I love you, my own man within the moon. Always and forever. If you cannot come back down anytime soon, please light my path so that I may walk to find you. Until we meet again.

It has been more than two years now. Not a day goes by where the wind whispers condolences, and the trees wave with gestures of comforting. It never gets easier. With each passing day, important memories wander away from me, in hopes of meeting the future with a blank slate. It burns in my heart. The police sirens. The last visit. The last talk we had. Guilt floods behind the unstable wall that is my mind, eventually having to spill over the edge. But that is supposed to be healing. Be healthy. Then why is it hurting so much? If things happen for a reason, what reason would possibly call for a future without the man that loved and protected me? It doesn't seem plausible because I loved and respected him right back?

Dad, I love you. Forever and always. You will live on in my heart, and I will forever be your mini-Mark. I love you to the moon, Mercury, Saturn, Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto and back. And around the universe a couple times, too. I love you, Dad. I will miss you.

So sorry for your sudden loss. I worked with Mark, though briefly, I felt like I knew him longer than I had. We shared many laughs together and I'll miss his quick witted remarks. May eternal rest be granted unto him, O LORD and let perpetual light shine upon him. Rest in peace my friend.

Jen, Matthew, Ava, Pete, Helen,
I am so sorry for your loss. Mark was always there for me and my family. Always willing to lend a hand and a funny story. He was so thoughtful and selfless. He was so proud of his family, you were his world. Mark was more like a brother but I was honored to call him a friend.

Our Sympathy to Mark's family. Though we haven't seen him since we left The General Store, this is very hard to believe. He was a true family man, and often expressed how he deeply he cared about his family. He was a great guy!
