Mark "Todd" Gilmartin, 60, passed away on June 1, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia. Born on November 2, 1964, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Mark lived a life marked by dedication to his family, excellence in his career, and a spirited love for adventure and connection.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a minor in Marketing from Oklahoma State University in 1986. His education laid the foundation for a remarkable career in construction equipment sales. Over the decades, he worked with distinction at Hertz Heavy Equipment Rentals, Groff Tractor, Cleveland Brothers, and Jesco Equipment. Known for his tenacity and leadership, Mark consistently ranked among the top-tier salesmen at each company. He was recognized with numerous awards for surpassing sales quotas and maintaining the highest number of accounts. His career trajectory-from salesman to Regional Sales Director and Account Manager-spanned Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. His colleagues knew him as a fierce leader who brought integrity and drive to every role he held.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mark was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving mother Sally Gilmartin; his former wife and mother to his children Deborah Gilmartin; his daughter Lauren Kuhens and her husband Chad; his son Ryan Gilmartin and daughter-in-law Elizabeth; and his cherished grandchildren Benjamin Kuhens and Sophia Kuhens. He also leaves behind his brothers Peter Gilmartin and Kent Gilmartin, along with sister-in-law Dawn Gilmartin.
Mark was predeceased by his father Mark Gilmartin and his sister Erica Gilmartin-Lunn.
Those who knew Mark remember him as charismatic, kind-hearted, loyal, hardworking, and smart-with a matter-of-fact demeanor that was both grounding and endearing. He had an adventurous spirit in his younger years and carried strong convictions throughout life. His sense of humor brought joy to many moments, while his hospitality made everyone feel welcome. Whether leading teams at work or guiding loved ones through life's challenges, Mark's strength of will left a lasting impression.
He found joy in the outdoors-golfing under open skies, skiing down snowy slopes, playing racquetball with friends, casting lines while fishing, boating across calm waters, or simply relaxing on the beach. These passions reflected his appreciation for both activity and serenity.
Above all else, Mark was a devoted father and grandfather who adored his family deeply. His presence was a source of strength and love to those closest to him. May Mark "Todd" Gilmartin's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with purpose and heart. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 14, 2025.
