Mark LeRoy Hiedeman, 73, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 after battling acute pancreatitis.

Mark was born on June 11, 1948, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Clara Dains and Mart Mort. He is survived by his four children, Desiree Wiles (Greg), Jentree Gomez (Sam), Adam Hiedeman and Noah Hiedeman (Grace); eight grandchildren, Parris Lezamiz (Michael), Justus Wiles, Chloe Palmer (Jayden), Avery Wiles, Liberty Wiles, Lauren Gomez, Donovan Wiles and Liam Hiedeman; and two great grandchildren, Tatum and Tyger Lezamiz. He is also survived by his brother Mike Mcahren and girlfriend, Cynthia Billmeyer, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and aunt and uncle.

Mark graduated from Twin Falls High School and enlisted in the Navy where he was assigned to the USS Ticonderoga. After completing his tour, he married the love of his life, Deborah Lowry, and shortly after, welcomed first born daughter, Desiree, and 14 months later, bald, blue eyed Jentree. In 1975, he moved his family to Moscow to obtain his business degree from the University of Idaho. After he graduated, the family moved back to southern Idaho where he worked as an insurance adjuster for Farm Bureau in Burley. A few years later, he decided to make a huge career change, so he moved his family back up to Moscow to attend law school. In 1984, bubbly son, Adam, was welcomed into the family and Mark was hired into the prosecutor's office in Pocatello in 1985, which is where he began his over 20 year career as a prosecutor. And in 1987, baby of the family, Noah, made his entrance into the world.

In 1992, Mark was elected as the Bannock County Prosecutor, where he successfully prosecuted some of Bannock County's most infamous cases. During these years, Mark competed on softball leagues, bowling leagues and was one of the best pool players around! He excelled athletically and pretty much everything else he put his mind to. He was also an active member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years. Then his grandchildren came and he was a very proud and involved grandpa and loved his grandkids to pieces and they all loved him and thought he was the best person in the world. In 2000, he married Felicia Funk of American Falls, and they spent more than 10 years together. After retiring in 2012, Mark switched from bowling and softball, to golf and snow skiing. He was highly sought after for legal consultation for quite a few years before he was ready to give that up as well, and focus on enjoying his life. He spent countless hours swimming with his grandkids and attending their many sports activities, school functions and graduations. He enjoyed taking trips to various places including Mexico, Mesquite and Europe, just to name a few.

Some of his (and his family's) favorite memories and traditions are the "weird drinks" of water he delivered to his kids at bedtime, the "first star" gift every Christmas Eve, dancing with both of his girls at their high school proms, chasing and scaring his kids with the "monster mask" (ski mask) on his face, enduring his kids learning to drive a stick shift, the yearly round of rowdy summer games, watching Jeopardy and sports with his sons, cannonballs and keep away in the pool, feeding his family "papa's pizza", "papa-cicles", "papa-corn", "soda-papas", Oreos, cheese sticks, sugared cereal and waayyyyyy too much candy. And no one will ever forget the crazy, funny birthday messages he left for his kids and grandkids.

His smile and laugh were infectious to everyone around him and he was always the life of the party. He commanded the room when he spoke and many of his words will live in our hearts and minds forever.

Mark will be missed by so many, and of course we all wish for many more years, but we are eternally grateful to the LORD for giving him to us for the time we had.

His family will not be having a service at this time, but will celebrate his life at a later date.

My thoughts are with you all. I have many good memories of working with Mark during the years he was the County Prosecutor and I was a Deputy Attorney General in the Criminal Appellate Unit.

I am beyond saddened. I knew Mark in mostly a professional capacity but he always made me feel welcomed, like a good friend. I think that was part of his charm. I missed the regular interaction with him after he retired. He was quick to praise my work and compassionate if I erred. My condolences to Mark's family. I think we are all special but Mark was special even among the special.
