Mark Johnston Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 3, 2025.
Mark Lindsay Johnston, 61, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2025. He is survived by his children Levi Johnston, Olivia Wilson (Dustin), Grace Johnston and Ava Johnston; his beloved granddaughters Emma Wilson and Savannah Wilson; his sister Amy Kerns (Jimmy); his brother Shawn Beck (Christa); his uncle Marty Lindsay (Denise); his aunt and dearest friend Robin Jarrell (Ernie); and his ex-wife Janet Johnston. He is now reunited with his grandparents Roy and Wavie Lindsay, his parents Kirk Johnston and Priscilla Johnston, and his brothers Edward Johnston and Michael Johnston.

Mark was a man who could bowl a strike, bait a hook, and beat you at Scrabble-all in the same afternoon. Born with a heart as big as the Chesapeake Bay he loved to fish on, Mark found joy in the simple pleasures: casting a line into the water at Dutch Gap, knocking down pins at Bowl America, cheering on the Washington Redskins on Sundays, and spending time with his family. Mark was the kind of person who made life a little lighter, a little funnier, and a lot more interesting.

Though his passing leaves a space that can never be filled, his memory will live on in every homemade rocket launched, every boat ride, and every Redskins touchdown. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a mental health charity of your choice, in honor of Mark's life and the importance of checking in on one another.
