Mark Judd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 15, 2025.
Mark Judd, 74 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025 at his home.

He was a born on June 28, 1950, to the late Charles Glen and Pauline Ruth Oliver Judd.

Mark received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and his Master of Divinity degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. It was at this time Mark became pastor of Colesburg Baptist Church where he served for 23 years. Later Mark completed two years of Clinical Pastoral Care at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

There was no doubt how much Mark loved his family. He was the rock on which his home was built and the person loved by all who knew him. The outdoors was the place where Mark felt most at home. He was an avid hiker and was a member of the Louisville hiking club. Mark had a love for all things green. His gardening started in February and continued all the way to fall. He was known in the neighborhood for his abundant garden produce and spread the wealth of his labor every year to friends and neighbors. His gifts went beyond gardening. His intellect and love of reading helped make Mark a master story teller. He used this gift in the pulpit to bring the Bible to life. This gift and his love of people enabled Mark to touch the spirits of so many people in his church. After completing his Clinical Pastoral Education, his ministry continued to touch the lives of people at their most vulnerable during sickness at Hardin Memorial. He never stopped serving the Lord. He taught the Senior Adult Sunday school class at Broadway Baptist church and served as an example to so many of the way a loving Christian should live. Mark had such a quirky sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes. He will be tremendously missed by his family, friends, and neighbors. But nothing would be complete about Mark if it was not emphasized that Mark was an avid University of Kentucky basketball.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Naomi Judd; and one brother, Glenn Brian Judd.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Middy Judd; one son, Brian Judd; one sister, Margaret Mandell; his brothers-in-law, Larry Strickland and Dr. Adrian Lamkin (Dana); nieces and nephews, Wynonna Judd (Cactus Moser), Ashley Judd, Erin Mandell, Joshua Mandell (Rachel), Allison Mandell, Sarah Lamkin, and Elizabeth Lamkin; and many dear cousins and friends.

Mark was laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Kentucky.

In memory of Mark, donations may be made to Broadway Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky or Simmons College of Kentucky in Louisville.
