I'm grateful to Rosie Johnson for sending me Mark's online obituary and have to say I am bowled over by the news. I was delighted to see Mark just before my father's (Stan Held) memorial service almost a year ago - he came up to me and took both my hands in his with such a warm loving greeting, a lovely connection from our youth, and I was so very touched to see him again. Mark was one person I knew immediately by site - for many long time friends it took hearing their familiar voices to ring the bell in my head of recognition. Wendy, Janet and Pat, my heart goes out to you and your families, to Mark's friends and community who love him still, as you mourn his loss and celebrate his soul's journey. I hope there were pipers playing and plaid being worn to send him off well....my dad told me how he wore his kilt for your parents' services, and that touches my heart. Your family is such a strong presence in my child memory of so many good times shared - listening to Merna read Bible stories, my eyes at knee level marveling at what nylon hose did to her knees! Longing for a doll house like yours, Wendy, being worried for the working dogs who protected the turkey barns as the only dogs I knew were house pets! The kindness and laughter of both your parents, the ways they were good friends to my parents and hosted us at your welcoming home. Playing in the bedroom above the dining room table, not realizing that everything we said was over-heard through the floor vents!!! I add my love to many who reach out to you now and would love to be in touch if you feel moved to reconnect. My email is [email protected] and I am now a coastal Oregonian! Blessings dear Mark - I smile seeing your smiling face in your photo, eyes squinty with the full experience of being pleased. i'm guessing you're hearing "well done" for the life and love you have shared and given during your life time - you've left this world a better place through your presence. My most sincere sympathy goes out to the McCulley family. They were a very special part of my life while I was in 4-H club growing up. Mark was one of the nicest people anyone could know. He was so much fun, so witty, and so kind to everyone. What a very sad loss this is.

Janet, Pat and Wendy, we wish you God's presence and comfort. Mark's death was a shock. You are all in our prayers along with any other special friends Mark may have had. I remember fondly working on the farm and remember your father and mother and of course Mark. I remember he as a child crawling along the rows of strawberries eating them and hoping not to be seen. Not all things in life seem to make good sense. God be with you. Rev. Roger Waid.

I have not met Mark but got to know a little about him from my friend David Johnson. Dave speaks very highly of him as he and Mark got to be good friends. I'm so sorry for the families loss. Jim Evenson
