Mark Nadler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 1, 2017.
Mark Edward Nadler 25, son of Bob and Evelyn, brother to Genevieve (Genny) and Katherine, brother in law to Alex and Gabe, and a friend to all he met, left this earth to be in the presence of God. He passed away Thursday afternoon as the result of injuries sustained in an accident with a vehicle while on his bicycle.

Mark was a product of Greensboro and a proud and beloved local. A life-long member of Starmount Presbyterian Church, he attended Peeler Open Elementary, Kiser Middle, Grimsley High School and was graduated from Christ School in Arden, NC. He attended Mars Hill and Greensboro College where he played LAX. Most recently, he was the friendly smiling face behind the counter at Fordham's Cleaners in Greensboro.

Mark loved sports: playing them, talking about them and watching them. Playing around and competing were two of his favorite pastimes. Whether it was golf with buddies, yard games like corn hole, or traveling to play in an adult lacrosse league, he was an athlete and team player to his core.

Mark started his athletic career almost at birth thanks to his two older sisters. He had to quickly hone his skills to steal the ball and hold his own while wrestling in the "dog pile" to earn his place among the Nadler siblings. His official career in sports began as a swimmer for the Friendly Frogs. Mark participated in various YMCA leagues at a young age where developed into a fierce competitor. He played basketball, football, and lacrosse at Kiser. At Grimsley, Mark played both basketball and lacrosse, earning All-American honors with the Whirlies' LAX his junior year. His teammates will always remember him for his great sense of humor and ability to get the team fired up.

In his childhood summers, he was a camper, Leader-in-Training, lifeguard and counselor at Camp Don Lee on the coast of North Carolina. He was full of love and friendship for the campers and staff and was always a great teammate and leader. During his last summer, he was assigned to counsel the youngest group of campers and surprised even himself what a positive impact his fun-loving, goofy, genuine personality could have. Some of those campers are still attending camp seven years later.

Mark was a character- a great time to be around and always the life of the party. When he would walk into a room, he'd greet you with his boisterous personality, loud laugh, huge smile, and a big bear-hug. Just the greeting from Mark could brighten up a room. Most of all, he loved to be around friends and family.

Mark will be missed by all who knew him. He will be forever young, remembered for his joy, charm, great sense of humor and exuberance for life.

Mark is preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris Nadler. Survivors include grandparents Bob and Sue Ramger and Bob and Yvonne Nadler; aunts and uncles Barbara and Jesse Fearrington, Cathy and Jeff Long, and David Ramger; along with seven cousins and a host of extended family.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 until 4 before the memorial service on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 5p.m. at Starmount Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark's memory to the Camp Don Lee Campership Fund, to help send children to summer camp, at 315 Camp Don Lee Rd, Arapahoe, NC 28510.

I remember when Luke and Mark met at Peeler. One time I took them to a hockey game. We sat in the place where the team exits to go to the locker room after the game. I don't remember who won, but I remember Mark leaning over and asking them to give him a puck. I had to hold on to him because he was determined to get one and he succeeded. He got the attention of one of the players and he tossed it to him. I will always remember that night because of Mark.

I met Mark only a few weeks ago as he attended my son's lacrosse tournament in SC. I was so saddened to hear of his untimely death. He had an infectious smile and made an impression on me during his time here. Nothing can fill this void of pain for your family right now but know that we are praying for you and have you in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult ltime. I hope he is playing lacrosse in heaven right now!
