To the Nieder families,
I too remember running track with Mark at BMS. While I didn't know Mark as an adult, I do remember that he was a great guy in school, and can only imagine that he became an even better man. His commitment to his country, and his family definitely shows that. Please accept my condolences and prayers for your loss. - Laura Upton

Linda, Coral, and 'brothers Nieder',
While I have lived out of state for some time, I have fond and fun memories of growing up together on Page Road with Mark and the Nieder family. We rode the school bus and hung out together after school- riding bikes, jumping off the highest point at the sand pit, trekking out to the old Boy Scout camp behind the Van Vleets, or climbing the rocks around the brook and waterfall behind Mark's house (I think Coral told us not to do that?!). Mark was always adventurous and came prepared - with a canteen of water secured to his bike or a small knife in its sleeve attached to his belt loop. I remember a time when my brother Andy, Mark, and I decided to try the game pocketbook, tying fishing line to an old purse, leaving it on the side of the road and each of us on either end as we hid in the woods, waiting for the first passing car to fall prey to our game. It was quite a giggle to yank on the fishing line and watch the purse jump out of reach of our roadside customer! We stifled our laughs in the woods until our next customer was the Bow police! Boy did we drop that wire and run like heck through the woods. I believe we collectively met, I in Mark's backyard by the pool, safely inside the gate, trying to quell our adrenaline. Just another Page Road adventure.
My brother Andy and I will cherish those young memories and our wonderful childhood friend, Mark. I can see by all the beautiful sentiments, that Mark became an amazing man, husband, father, and grandfather. Our hearts and prayers are with you Coral, Linda and family. Godspeed to our friend Mark.

Linda,I'm so sorry for your loss. Mark was a great friend, mentor, and a leader to admire. I often think about the time we spent getting ready for Bosnia and of course that week long adventure doing MEDEVAC operations down at Camp Lejeune. That week was wild, but most of all I will always remember when he had my back. He was a true professional and will be missed.

Praying for you, Linda and the family.
I knew Mark from growing up in Bow. Mark is definitely remembered for his upstanding character. I did not see Mark during our high school years, as my family moved. But, I remember bumping into Mark at a military leadership school. It was a real pleasure bumping into him at the school.
Heaven has gained another angel. I can see from everyone's post that he was a man of God. May you find peace in knowing where Mark is now.

I am the assessing clerk from Northumberland, and possibly the last person he spoke to in person before we lost him. The "whys" and sequence of events leading up to this unbelievable tragedy are haunting us all. Just know I'm speaking for the whole community when I say it's left a void in every life he touched...he was a blessing to know, his humble wisdom and caring ability to listen, his warming up to strangers ( a TRUE "people person") his sincere honesty and smile were calming and his answers reassuring to the public. Then, his positive attitude, high energy, and love of his assessing work were just contagious... when most people think of assessing work as thankless and confrontational, not Mark. Even though I'm 1 day short of being 10 years his senior, he taught me more in the last 5 years about loving what you do and how you deal with people is what matters most. Life is precious, and so was Mark. My heart and hugs go out to all of you that had the pleasure of being his family and friends. Take care.? and tears for your loss.

Linda and family; my deepest sympathy for your tragic loss. Memories of growing up in Bow bring to mind Mark's quick wit and humor. I always admired that quality in him. Then in Concord, you, Linda, met Mark in what became a strong and enduring, even storybook marriage ...also admirable. Be strong and cherish your family.

It is with sadness and tears that I submit these words at a time when no words could ever express the deepness of this loss. Mark was my brother-in-law...but he was really my brother. Although over the years I have not had the opportunity to see Mark and Linda as much as I would have liked, they live in my heart every day. Mark was a pillar of strength for Linda and they loved each other more than life itself. They were never talked about alone...it's been only "Linda and Mark" for over 30 years. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Nieder family and their many many close friends. Mark and Linda, I really love you.

Linda and family. I grew up in Bow and remember many things about Mark. As you know, if you grew up in Bow, you knew everyone very well. It was truly a family.
The thing I remmber the most about Mark is what a quality person he was - even as a child. He always stood for what he believed was right and always stuck up for "the little guy". I remember in about 6th grade he came back from Germany and shared some gummy bears with me and my friends. It was the first time I had them and have been hooked since! Funny what we remember.
You should know that we all admired the strong relationship that the two of you had. To find your true love early in life is a true blessing and something no one can take away from you. Your's was a true love story. My heart is broken for your family.
I hope you find strength in being surrounded by loved ones and friends and that you have more support and love than you ever could have imagined. Do not hesitate to call on me in need.
I am very saddened that I cannot make the services this weekend since I will be out of the country. I will be thinking of you and the family.
God bless.
