Robert W. Magenau

Robert W. Magenau, 79, passed away Dec. 17, 2003, and has gone to that big golf course upstairs.

He loved and was much loved and will be missed by his family and many friends. Robert was born and raised in Akron, and served his country in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He retired from Mogadore Patterns, and volunteered at the Edwin Shaw Golf Course. Robert belonged to the Moga dore V.F.W. Post 8487 and the Mogadore Moose Lodge 1082.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Julie; daughter, Mari lyn (Hank) Petroski; granddaughter, Jennifer (David) Lowry; and great-granddaughter, Elsa. Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Vuk elich.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date, at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute to a charity of their choice. The family would like to thank the staff at the Oncology unit at Akron City Hospital for all they did for Robert while he was in their care. (Cremation Society of Ohio, 330-535-1012.)

To the Magenau Family,

My deepest sympathy for your loss. I did not know Mr. Magenau personally, but if his daughter and grandaughter are like him, he must have been a very special person.
