The last time I spoke with Mark he was traveling in London and I was about to leave on a trip to the Mediterranean and when we both got back we were going to exchange pictures and stories of our adventures in Europe but we never got around to it with us both having busy schedules. I wish I would have put forth a little more effort to make time to share the photos and stories with Mark and now I'll never get to. I only knew Mark for a short time but the time that I did know him he made an impact on my my life.
Mary Ann, I can't even begin to imagine what you must be going through but you should take comfort in knowing that you have your own special guardian angel watching over you now. I have no doubt in my mind that Mark is looking down on us smiling not wanting us to grieve for him but to remember the good times and cherish the memories. I loved Mark and will miss him deeply.

The main thing we want you to know is that we care, we are shedding many tears over this, and that we know our loving God is holding your precious son close to him...and forever, just like you have always done and will do forever. His life with you is inspirational and his death is something we know could happen to anyone in any family. We will always hold you and Mark in our thoughts and prayers and we thank you for sharing your son and your joy with us all. Love from us.

Dear Mary Ann
There are no words that can console you, dear friend. My prayer for you is that the memories that everyone shares with you will warm your heart and help you remember the impact that Mark made on all of us, as did your love for him.
I always figured that Mark could have been a Gifted Ed Program Director. He certainly was part of enough meetings at your home and he always served as an inspiration for why we all worked so hard to achieve equitable education for gifted students.
Ella and I will always treasure our memories of when you and Mark visited Oregon together and your shared love for the World Future Society.
Peace be with you and with Mark's soul.

Dear Mary Ann, I will always think of Mark and our wonderful time together in San Francisco. That bright little boy so in love with dinosaurs. He was so much fun to be with. I want you to know I'm thinking of you and wish I could help with your pain. The only thing I can say to you from my own experience with loss is that the pain never goes away but with the passage of time it becomes less acute. My love and prayers are with you.Valentine Munoz

God must have had a reason for taking Mark from us so young; but still, it must be like having your heart carved out of your chest dear Mary Ann. May He help us understand, and give us comfort.

Mary Ann, My heart and soul go out to you. I thank the powers in the Universe I was there to have a hug today and be able to share with you, as in years past, the only word to describe your experience and my awareness of being part of that experience. Thank you for the childhood pictures on the website. I remember them well. I send you love and light and know the universe will provide. Take care Love Iris

Dear Mary Ann,
I will always fondly remember knowing and working with your son Mark in fourth grade at Essrig Elementary School! He was such an interesting, intelligent, curious, and delightful young man! I was also pleased to have you as an enthusiastic and supportive parent! I still treasure the beautiful poem "Proud Moments" that you sent to me at the end of my year with Mark. I am truly sorry for the loss of your beloved son, but we all share many wonderful memories of him.

Mary Ann,
I am so sorry to hear about Mark's passing. When I think of him, I fondly remember our trip to Washington DC and the daily "field trips" we took all over the city. And who could forget the midnight hotel fire alarm? He was such an inquisitive boy and I always enjoyed spending time with him. My deepest prayers and sympathies are extended to you during this time of loss.

I am so sad to hear of Mark's passing. I still remember him as a precocious 2nd grader who loved his legos and drew everything in 3D-from different angles! He was a joy to babysit the brief time I was teaching in Tampa. Mary Ann, my thoughts and prayers are with you. He grew up into a handsome young man and I'm sure brought much joy to many people. My deepest sympathies.

I would like to dedicate this song in Mark's memory... He loved music from foreign countries, especially Europe.
So this is from Hungary for you, Mark:

I was overwhelmed with sadness when I read today about Mark's passing. I remember him as the smart little boy who greeted me so politely when I first met him and MaryAnn. We shared happy times and my heart goes out to you, MaryAnn, for your loss. I know he was the light of your life and you were his. He was a good person, a sweet person as I remember him. My heart is sad and my deepest sympathy and prayers go out to you MaryAnn.

Mark was a great colleague at the school of architecture, a special, caring person and a friend always ready to help.
He loved sharing his experiences about traveling throughout Europe; he loved talking about art, music, architecture… and his family. His childhood hobby for drawing accompanied him throughout the years, since sketching in the studio would still bring a smile on his face. He liked to see his friends succeed; he was proud of their accomplishments and had high expectations from himself as well. He was very open-minded and passionate about many things in his life.
Mark, you seemed to be such a happy person… This was very unexpected and you will always be remembered…

Can't believe that two years went by. Had such a great time at the Smithsonian, in Washington!...

I remember Mark as a twelve-year-old, dragging a piece of the Berlin Wall around Germany, and drawing castles as we traveled through the countryside of Europe. May your final journey be your best!
