Mark Rowley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 8, 2023.
On October 23, 2023, Mark George Rowley, 76, of Cumming, GA, passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Shirley Rowley at his side after battling cancer.

Mark was born June 17, 1947 to Ralph Rowley and Marjorie Rowley (Butler) in Glens Falls, New York. He spent his early childhood helping his family tending to the farmland in Upstate New York. After graduating from Baldwin high school, Mark lived out his dream of playing college basketball at Ithaca College. Mark had a love for all sports but held a special place in his heart for basketball and the memories he shared with his father while he watched him play.

After graduating college, Mark started his career in Electronic Sales. His very successful career took him all over the country including Mobile, AL, Denver, CO, and San Francisco, CA. At the very height of his career, Mark returned to Atlanta, GA where he resided for the next 30 years.

Mark was a consummate host and loved to cook and entertain his family and friends as often as he could. Mark is known as a friend to everyone and one who has never met a stranger.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Rowley, Stepmother Beverly Rowley and his sister Christine Rowley.

Mark also had two daughters Brittany Swenson (husband Ryan Swenson) and Keelin Tyler (husband Chris Tyler). There is absolutely nothing Mark loved more than being a "Poppi" to his four beautiful grandchildren Eleanor Swenson (5), Violet Tyler (4), Dean Swenson (4) and Lyla Swenson (3) and baby Tyler on the way.

He will be remembered for all the love he shared with his friends and family. His smile, laugh and gracious spirit will be remembered by all who loved him. He fought until the very end with dignity, strength, and a loving spirit. He will be missed dearly.

In the great words of his favorite musician Frank Sinatra "Fill my heart with song and let me sing forevermore..."

So sorry to hear of Mark's passing. I was his college roommate our freshman year and a fraternity brother with DKE. We all had many good times with Mark. He was an outstanding fraternity brother, always willing to lend a hand. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He will be missed. Tony Scaringe

Mark was a sweet man and a good friend. He was always a great player in the NCAA pool during March Madness! He was amazed when he won an HOA election! A stand up guy and always ready to pitch in when he could! He fought hard and his courage was remarkable!

Never met him. But I am good friends with his step son, Trevor. Trevor always talked highly of Mark and talked highly of how Mark treated Trevor“s mom. Thoughts and prayers.

Mark was loved by all at the Vickery Lake Community. We have lost a great leader and honor his memory. Mark was a giver of his time and efforts to make Vickery Lake a great place to live and play. Always positive and smiling, a great friend to all he met. Your many friends at Vickery Lake Community will miss you. Rest in Peace.
