Mark S. Schaper, MD, 52, died on Friday, December 11, 2015. He was born on July 9, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas to Ben and Helen Tieken Schaper.
Mark graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio and the University of Houston. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1991. He did post graduate work at the University of Oklahoma Medical School.
He worked as an emergency room physician at DeTar Hospital from 1995 to 2001.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn Kopecky Schaper and their three children, Julia, Luke and Michael. He is also survived by his mother and sister, Kristen Link. He was preceded in death by his father.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
The Mass of Christian of Burial will be at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 10:00 am with Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alfred J. Kopecky, Alfred A. Kopecky, MD, Mark Hellinger, Christopher Hellinger, Terry McCormack, Jason Elder, Carl Tieken and Nicholas Link.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph High School, 110 E. Red River, Victoria, Texas, 77901 or Our Lady of Victory School, 1309 E. Mesquite, Victoria, Texas, 77901.
