Mark Allen Schug, 73, of Farmington, MN, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 in Panama City, FL after a brave and gallant fight from Covid-19. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on December 17, 1947 to Alois and Margaret Schug. Mark attended Catholic school in Minnetonka, MN and graduated from West High School in Minneapolis, MN. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served from 1966-1970, USS Forestall CVA-59, Squadron VF-11 Red Rippers and 2 cruises 1967-1970. After leaving the Navy he worked for Honeywell Technology for 40 years. During this time, he attended Normandale College graduating with an Associate Degree. Mark loved nothing better than getting on his bike and going for a ride. Every chance he got, he would sneak up North to Jay Cooke State Park to hike around. Mark loved to go on cruises and travel. He took up golf late in life and said it was the hardest game he had ever played and became a Florida snowbird. Most of all Mark had the biggest heart, a love of life, a unique sense of humor, and the most genuine smiles. He was a caring and loving man, not just to family but to many friends and acquaintances. Mark is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Katherine (Mitchell) Schug. Mark is survived by the love of his life, Sharon Mower and was an outstanding father to his four daughters, Chantal Schug, Katheryn (Lance) Frey, Amy and Jode Schug. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jonathan Schug, Tyler, Hayley and Teagan Frey; six siblings, Susan Schlegal, Alois (Jo) Schug, LeRoy (Carol) Schug, Joyce Gouge’, Kay (Gary) Smith and Lynn Stanley; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Life will be planned for the spring with more details to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to some of Mark’s favorite places: Jay Cooke State Park, North Central Camp Cherith, or Big Horn County Historical Museum (Hardin, MT) in memory of Mark Schug.

Mark and I had several classes together at West High and got to know each other. One semester we were the only two students in Mr. Casserli's Architectural Drafting class. Mark had a wonderful sense of humor and was a sweet guy.
