Mark and worked together for about 15 years. He was my fixer, every mistake I made Mark would point or fix for me. When I visited Huston he would show me around get some lunch and dinner. He was a great co worker and he always followed up. When I was laid off after 22 years he was the only one calling me weekly to make sure I was ok. He was great man! I wish his family the best, he loved and spoke of you often.

Mark and I worked the night shift in the San Antonio data center. We were promoted to System Resource Managers at about the same time. We did good work and had fun until the company moved me and my family to St. Louis. Some time later, Mark was transferred to the Houston Data Center.
I admired Mark for his intelligence, his sense of humor, and his high work principles. He will be missed.

Please accept my deepest condolences.
Mark Wilson was such a great provider who profoundly loved and cherished his wife and his family. But he was always a passionate encourager and dear friend to the rest of us as he demonstrated his love by serving the church and so many others throughout his professional life.
Mark was assured that no matter what the outcome of his illness was, he was confident that he was ready to be God. That had to be apparent to all of us on that amazing day as we witnessed his decision to be baptized.
Surely, Mark had many accomplishments in his professional life with the job he loved. But, somehow I perceive that he had more of a sense of accomplishment and enthusiasm in his commitment of serving the church in his cohesive efforts with the Tech Team. We all loved working with him so much and appreciated his Wife's approval to let him exercise his dedication which eventually led to her participation with the Tech Team also.
Mark also had great moral concerns about the political direction of not just our country, but the world in general. His concerns and perspectives were completely legitimate and it's something we had an opportunity to discuss on a regular basis. Although we understood that the issues are quite grand and complex, he was assured that prayer was consistently necessary and God's got this. His mentoring in such matters always gave me relief.
Mark, our Christian brother has left such an indelible impression on everyone who knew him that any memories shared will always be delightful. May God bless you and your family.
Respectfully,
Carlton Collins

I recall when Mark first came to work at S.W.B.T. in San Antonio sometime around the mid to late 1970's as a non management person (computer attendant or stock clerk?). Like all of us, he was a green kid who eventually earned his way to the top of his job duties.
We also had children roughly the same age who needed tubes put in their ears to reduce ear infections, or adenoid/tonsil removed/etc. Not realizing that our kids were scheduled for surgery on the same day and roughly the same time, we were surprised to bump into each other in the wee hours of the morning at a hospital waiting room in San Antonio, TX.
Somewhere along his career line, in either San Antonio or Houston, Mark was promoted to management.
In early 1990's, the San Antonio SBC Office was closed and merged into the Houston SBC Office.
Mark and I interacted businesswise, again, in the roughly 1995 to 2002 time frame when I was in Dallas and he was in Houston.
I retired in March 2002; but, Mark and I reconnected yet again on Facebook around 2012 or so.
Sadly, I had no idea that Mark had uveal melanoma.
May Mark rest in eternal heavenly peace.

Mark always had a Diet Coke within reach. As kids, Mariza and I were at the house so often in the beginning, that I think we both ended up drinking it even when there were other options.
One of the days I will always remember, is the day he tried to buy me a puppy even though he did not like dogs, much less have them in the house. But, he knew how much I loved them and despite how difficult I was as a teenager he still made a big effort to show how much he cared.
He truly was the most genuine person.

Mark was a very humble man and will be missed as a servant at WHCC. He was always willing to help me when I was on staff at West Houston. He volunteered to handle the sound booth for the church, trained others to do the same and help me with computers frequently not only at the church but, for me personally. He was a very kind individual and easy going with all he met. I will miss Mark as I know his family will. He was one of my favorite brothers and I loved him dearly.

I don´t know if I can truly ever articulate how much my dad means to me. He taught me that you don´t have to be defined by one moment of your life that change is possible you just have to focus on each day in the present and making each day the best possible day you can make it. He taught me patience and kindness. Even in his illness when he had to stay at MD Anderson, on the days he wasn´t feeling the greatest, he made sure to tell every nurse and doctor that walked in how great of a job they were doing. That small act of kindness in his weakest moments will stick with me forever. I will dearly miss our daily check-in phone calls reminding me to check my gas tank, keep my head on a swivel and just checking in to see how my day was and how my kids were doing. He was the person I talked to daily to carry me through dealing with my moms illness. I would have never gotten through that without him. I love the way he loves his grandsons and would just light up every time he spoke to them and spent time with them. He meant the world to them and I will make sure to raise them as men who carry on his traits of kindness and caring. My dad would stop by after work as often as he could even if it was just 5 minutes to take the boys for a quick walk around the neighborhood, a memory that will be engrained in them forever along with their trips to Chick-Fil-A where he taught them the phrase "Hip Hip for Chik-Fil-A, it´s on the way", and catching up on their favorite You-Tube series Trent & Allie. I can´t forget to mention the pure love and passion he had for his job. He was always so excited to show us the latest project he was working on and it always amazed me how passionate he was even after 47 years. He loved his job and was so proud of his accomplishment of being there as long as he was. I often asked him about retirement and he always told me why would I ever leave something I love so much. The skills he learned at his job also led him to go on to serve with his tech team at his favorite church of worship, West Houston Church of Christ. He was a proud follower of Jesus Christ and loved being a part of the tech team. I´ll miss my Sunday´s of going there and catching him up in the booth smiling the biggest smile once he noticed us there. I miss my dad so much and will forever be grateful for the memories, the lessons taught, our daily talks and I will honor him by staying in the present and carrying him in my heart. Until we are united in Heaven, I love you dad.

When I was promoted at AT&T, Mark took me under his wings. Mark took time to help me understand my new role. He welcomed me to the tech team and valued my contributions to the team. I will always remember how impressed he was with our team project collaborations.

Mark supported West Houston Church of Christ on the tech team for 20 years. I was lucky enough to have volunteered along side him for 15 of those years. We had many Sunday mornings full of great conversations and sharing YouTube videos. We always seemed to solve the world´s problems. What a great friend and brother in Christ. I will miss you my friend until we meet again.

I have learned many things from Mark while working together for 15+ years but the one that sticks with me the most is "Live in the Moment." Whenever we spoke on the phone for work or just to say hello after work to share YouTube clips he always reminded me not to stress about what's coming and focus on the present. Words that help me everyday but most of all during the Pandemic. Words I continue to embrace daily and will always thank Mark for reminding me how valuable those words can be.

Mark helped me with lab machines in his lab in Houston. He was always ready to fix a problem machine. He dropped everything when I told him there was a problem and fixed it right away. He will be missed.

I'm so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Mark. His calm, thoughtful and genuine approach to problems always got us out of a jam. And his friendly smile always preceded and completed a conversation.
I'm not from the Houston area but did get to visit with Mark many times. I recall walking into his office, fairly frantically, with a very large issue. Mark stood up, looked at me, smiled and said "Tom, let's work on this together.". Right then, everything was okay. Mark did this so many times for me.
Another fond memory is Mark taking my team and I to Luling City BBQ for some amazing food, particularly his fav BBQ sausage. While the food was outstanding, the conversation with Mark was impossible to beat.
I'm very thankful to have spoken with Mark over the phone a couple weeks ago...to talk about life, what's important, and to just hear his voice one last time.
We miss you, Mark. Thanks for all you've done for all of us.

It was my pleasure to meet Mark and he was undoubtedly one of the kindest people I have ever met. The time I spent working with Mark on Tech was always a pleasure for me. Surely he will be missed by many, yet we know he will meet us again on the other side. Our prayers go out to the family during this difficult time
