Marlene Maisonville-Hare Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 24, 2025.
Marlene Maisonville-Hare, age 71, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida. Born on September 12, 1953, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Marlene lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and unwavering love for both people and animals.

In her early years, Marlene embraced adventure as a stewardess-before the term "flight attendant" became common-traveling across the United States and Europe. Her love of flying reflected her spirited nature and curiosity about the world. Later in life, she pursued a calling that would define much of her legacy: nursing. After graduating from nursing school, Marlene devoted herself to caring for others with extraordinary empathy and skill. She worked as a vent nurse in patients' homes, providing critical care to paralyzed and disabled children. Her commitment to these young lives left an indelible mark on the families she served.

Marlene's nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life. She was deeply devoted to the well-being of her parents, caring for her mother Shirley Stroud and later her father Maurice Maisonville in her own home during their final years. Her selflessness and strength during those times were a testament to the depth of her love and sense of duty.

For 35 years, Marlene shared a loving marriage with her husband Richard "Rick" Hare. They adored each other and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, mutual respect and companionship. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother Maurice Maisonville and sister Shelley Maisonville.

A passionate advocate for animals in need, Marlene had a special place in her heart for stray or abused dogs and cats. She not only rescued countless animals but also raised many herself and found safe, loving homes for others-affectionately referring to them as her "fur babies." Her home was often filled with the warmth of wagging tails and gentle purrs.

Marlene found joy in simple pleasures-crafting decorations for every holiday brought color and cheer into her home year-round. She also enjoyed attending Bingo games, where she found fun and camaraderie.

Though she did not attend formal services regularly, Marlene found deep spiritual comfort at home through reading spiritual books that nourished her soul.

She was preceded in death by her father Maurice Maisonville; mother Shirley Stroud; and stepfather Bill Stroud.

Marlene's memory will live on through those who knew and loved her-as a caregiver, an animal rescuer, a devoted wife and sister, and someone who gave generously from the heart.

May her memory bring comfort to all who were touched by her kindness.
