Marsha Grindle Obituary

Marsha Adams Grindle, 56, of Dunlap, Iowa, died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Marcus Manley officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Rush Family Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa. Well, since I have been sent on this journey of life, I know you all wouldn't begrudge me this one last time to maybe make you chuckle. On July 14, 1960, a baby girl, Marsha Kay, was born to Marie Kloewer and Herman Block. This was back before HIPPA laws, so Dad made everyone go out to the car (so they could listen to the birth announcement on the radio). Marsha grew up in Dunlap, Iowa and graduated from Dunlap Community High School in 1978. She worked in Omaha, Nebraska for two years. She then returned to this area where she worked at a hunting cabin, Burke's grocery store, QAT in Soldier, Iowa, and bars in Pisgah, Moorhead, and Castana, Iowa. The greatest joy in my life has been my children. Each coming with their own challenges. Born to me were Gabriel, Elizabeth, Whitney, Kayla, and Skye, and my other kids, Amber, Jeff, and Kelsey, plus numerous grandkids and family. Some highlights in my life have been meeting David, back when he rode bicycle every day and had legs like Ken, the last year on the motorcycle, and teaching Jeff how to drive. Any way it's all been good. See you all on the other side! Survivors include her spouse, David Grindle of Dunlap, IA; seven children, Gabriel Block of Onawa, IA, Amber (Ryan) Baak of Ruthven, IA, Jeff (Leisha) Grindle of Carroll, IA, Kelsey (Josh) Saltz of Papillion, NE, Elizabeth (Brian) Keeler of Vancouver, WA, Kayla Grindle of Soldier, IA, and Skye Grindle of Dunlap, IA; a son-in-law, Dillon (Jenna Miller) Cloud of Mapleton, IA; twelve grandchildren, Emma, Dru, and Carson Baak, Landon and Lauren Grindle, Caliber, Atticus, and Myla Cloud, Jaxson Miller-Ross, Alton Keeler, and Charlotte and Madelyn Saltz, and two more grandchildren on the way; her mother, Marie Block-Smith of Dunlap, IA; her mother-in-law, Shirley Dunlop of Moorhead, IA; five siblings, Charlene (Ralph) Yaple of Lenexa, KS, Diane (David) Houston of Omaha, NE, Dean Block of Dunlap, IA, Rod Block of Dunlap, IA, and Sherry (Larry) Baldwin of Neola, IA; and one brother-in-law, Larry Eggers of Dunlap, IA. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Whitney Anne Cloud in 2013; her father, Herman Block; one brother, Tom Block; one sister, Jane Eggers; maternal grandparents, Frank and Ann Kloewer; paternal grandparents, Herman and Elizabeth Block; and her father-in-law, Bill Dunlop. Marsha was a truly beautiful person. She had a fun spirit that I will always remember and reflect on. She was a lot of fun to be around and I'll never forget her sweet smile. It's difficult to express how much sympathy goes out to my Aunt Marie as well as Marsha's entire family. I hope each of you know how close you are in heart and thoughts today and will be during the difficult days ahead. May God's grace be with all of you.

Marsha was an amazing woman! I had the lovely opportunity to know her through photographing a couple of her children's Senior pictures and of course being an acquaintance of her beautiful daughter Whitney. Every time I saw Marsha, she was laughing about something making me feel more than at home out on their beautiful farm in the hills.( Especially loading me up with those amazingly delicious tomatoes and eggplants!) Bless you Marsha and the whole Adams/Grindle Family. you are all loved and are in my prayers <3
