Betty Jean Marshall, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Born on December 15, 1941, in Greene County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Manis Lee Shifflett and Anna Diane Shifflett. Betty was one of 12 children and was predeceased by all but four of them.Betty was a loving wife and mother. She loved to take care of her four beautiful children along with anyone that needed help. Betty loved to sing country music and especially liked the music of Loretta Lynn. She also loved to garden and was an amazing cook. She fought a long battle with Alzheimers Disease.Survivors include her devoted husband of 54 years, William Edward Marshall, their children, Rebecca Davis and her husband, Mike, Vicki Rodes and her husband, Michael, Willie Marshall and his wife, Becky, and Carolyn Woodson and her friend, Thomas Haney. She also leaves behind four siblings, Manis Shifflett, Ruby Carver, Joyce Conley and James Shifflett; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015, in the Hill and Wood Chapel with Chaplain David Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, January 11, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.A special thank you to Legacy Hospice for their tender loving care.In lieu of flowers, Betty's family is establishing a trust fund for her caregiver.Friends may send condolences to her family at www.hillandwood.com.
