Marshall Summers

SUMMERS, Marshall Marshall Summers, 77, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas, TX. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, KY directed by Gary's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday, November 18 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Marshall was born on May 18, 1939 in Greenville, KY to the late Charles Bayless Summers and Reid Hale Summers. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Charles R. Summers. Marshall was a graduate of Greenville High School and Murray State University. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. After moving to Texas, he would become President of Variety Steel. Marshall always held a love for his home state of Kentucky, he was an avid Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan and retained his membership with Greenville United Methodist Church. Marshall was a loving family man and loyal friend. He was always interested in the welfare of others, especially his family. He had a very engaging personality, generous with his time, or there to lend a shoulder to cry on, and always prepared with a joke when the situation called for it. He was a rock solid husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Surviving are his loving wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" W. Summers of the home; daughter, Katherine "Kathy" S. McDonald (Jimmy) of Pipe Creek, TX; step-daughter, Jenny Morgan (Evan)of Austin, TX; brother, David S. Summers of Chicago, IL; sister, Mary Lou Summers Richardson of Murrells Inlet, SC; three grandchildren, Taylor Cluff, Katie Cluff, and Collin Cluff, all of Pipe Creek, TX; two step-grandchildren, Presley Morgan and Cash Morgan of Austin, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
