Martha Adler Obituary

Martha L. Adler, 94, of Rochester, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at Samaritan Bethany. 

Martha Laura Bornfleth was born Nov. 10, 1921, in Chatfield,  to Frank and Susie (Bernard) Bornfleth.  Martha attended Rochester Lutheran School and Rochester High School.  She married Lester Adler on June 1, 1946, in Rochester. Martha worked at JC Penney's Department Store for 25 years.  Lester passed away in 1999. Martha was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where she was active with the Ladies Circle and Redeemer Lutheran Quilters.  She enjoyed quilting, knitting, square dancing and fishing. 

Martha is survived by her daughters, Judith (Jerome) Bonkoski of Prior Lake, Minn., and Pamela (Richard) Klipsic of Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren, Jill (Matthew) Petersen, Jodi Bonkoski, Jason (Katrina) Klipsic and Devon Klipsic; four great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Karsten, Mia and Annika; and one sister, Gertrude Votruba of Winona.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; four brothers; and three sisters. 

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at  at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Adam Koglin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

I always enjoyed visiting with Martha before I was a parish nurse and after being a parish nurse!! She was active at Redeemer and demonstrated her faith in so many ways. Prayers for peace for her family.
