Dr. Marty was such a cool and totally dedicated scientist. She started teaching at UGA in 1987, the year before I graduated from undergraduate school there.

Miranda, I want you to know that "they don't make 'em like your Mom anymore".

God bless you and your family during this difficult time. You now have a beautiful angel keeping guard over you in heaven.

The animals at the Humane Society are sending up their prayers to your family, too. :-)

Miranda and family of Marty Carr, I hope the good memories and joyous time that you had with your loved one will comfort you in the months and years ahead. As I reflect, I am honored to share that Marty was a special colleague because she inspired me to strive to be courageous and compassionate in my work at UGA. She modeled important ways in which to support my students and to have high expectations of them. With university matters, I could often rely on Marty to help me sift through minutia and to find clarity and purpose. Around town, I fondly recall living on the east side and seeing Marty jog for miles down Whit Davis Rd., even while pregnant Miranda. As a new faculty member in the late 90s, I thought that Marty was wonder woman, giving of herself in many ways and accomplishing so much. I know the fruit of her labor and care for others will live on for generations. Peace and Blessings Miranda and family.
