Martha S. DuBarry, 95, of Kendal at Longwood, Kennett Square, PA, died January 11, 2023. She was born in Philadelphia on February 16, 1927 to William E. Shmidheiser and Mary Engle Hall. Raised in Moylan, she graduated from Friends Central School in 1944, attended Sweet Briar College, graduating 1948. In the 1970's, she completed a Masters of Education from UNC-Chapel Hill. Martha worked for many years in the archives of the American Friends Service Committee in Philadelphia, retiring in 1999 to live at Kendal.

A lifelong Quaker, Martha was a founding member of Chapel Hill Friends Meeting, and later joined the Providence Meeting. In keeping with her Quaker values, Martha was dedicated to social justice, and remained active in the Quaker community until her later years. She was known as thoughtful, articulate, and stylish.

She is predeceased by husbands Nathaniel F. Rodman, Jr. and George DuBarry. Martha is survived by her daughter Mary Hall Rodman of Asheville, NC, son and daughter-in-law Nathaniel F. Rodman III and June Walker of Chapel Hill, NC, son William S. Rodman of Butler, PA, stepdaughter Stephanie DuBarry Peters and her husband John Peters of Hillsville, VA. Memorial services will be announced later.
