Martha Haygood, 86, of Lafayette, formerly of Idaville passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette.
She was born on July 24, 1933 in Idaville to the late Benjaman and Alta (Roller) Shoop. She married Richard Haygood at the Idaville United Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2002.
Martha was a graduate of Idaville High School. She used to sing at weddings and funerals and also sang at the Idaville Centennial in 1960. Martha raised canaries and loved to play pranks on people. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis (Diana) Haygood of Logansport and Paul (Mary) Haygood of Lafayette; a daughter in law, Lenita (Jim) Moon of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Bryan (Michelle) Haygood, Brad Haygood, Kayla Miller, Ben Haygood, Melissa Barber, Justin Moon, Joey and Jake Moon; and three great grandchildren, Corbin, Elizabeth and Elainnah.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Wayne Haygood,; two brothers, Donald "Bud" and Daniel Shoop; sister, Marilyn Thompson; and her granddaughter, Kandi May Haygood.
Funeral services celebrating Martha's life will be private.
Private burial will be in Idaville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to the American Parkinson Disease Foundation.
