Kirby Schliesman
63, Indianapolis, lost his courageous battle with cancer on July 10, 2012. Per his request, he died at home in the arms of his wife, Darlene, with his children Amanda Edwards and Rob Schliesman by his side, and his dog Gretta softly kissing his cheek. He was born August 2, 1948, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Robert E. and Jackie (Kirby) Schliesman.
Kirby graduated from Warren Central High School and attended Ball State University. He proudly served in the National Guard. His sense of humor was enjoyed by everyone around him. His family and lifelong friends will miss him deeply.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Schliesman; children, Amanda (Chris) Edwards and Robert Schliesman; grandchildren, Johnny and Haley Weaver, Isabelle Edwards, Ryan and Courtney Schliesman; brother-in-law, Dick (Drew) Matula; sisters-in-law, Lori (Matt) Nycek, Marilyn (Bob) Morrison, Beth Swickard, Theresa Boller, Rita Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 6:00 p. m. Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple , 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Online condolences or to view Kirby's video tribute may be done by visiting

Kirby was awesome! He lovedyou Darlene, and I can confirm the reverse too! I am so sad I was out of town for his death and memorial. But I remember a smilng positive person that I liked fromthe first instant! He will be remembered with all positive feelings - he made us all better.
